The forms

: The subjunctive is the verb mood that does not present a fact as certain, but as an opinion, a wish, a doubt or a possibility. While the indicative says «how it is», the subjunctive says «how it could be» or «how I would like it to be».

Formazione

To form the present subjunctive: verbs in -are change the vowel to -i (che io parli), those in -ere and -ire take -a (che io prenda, che io dorma). The first three persons (io, tu, lui/lei) are identical, so the pronoun is often added for clarity.
