The forms
: The imperative is the verb mood used to give orders, instructions, advice and invitations (Parla! Ascoltate! Andiamo!). It has the tu, noi and voi forms (the courtesy form with Lei will be seen later).
Come si forma
The imperative forms are almost the same as the present indicative. There is one important difference: in the tu person, verbs in -are end in -a (tu parli → parla!), while verbs in -ere and -ire keep the -i (prendi!, dormi!). The noi and voi forms are identical to the present.

The negative form of the tu person is special: you use non + the infinitive of the verb (non parlare!, non correre!, non aprire!). Instead noi and voi simply put non before the imperative (non parliamo!, non parlate!).

I pronomi attaccati
The pronouns (mi, ti, lo, ci, si...) attach to the end of the tu, noi and voi imperative, forming a single word: parlami!, alzati!, diamogli!, ascoltatelo!. With the shortened forms (va', fa', di', da', sta') the consonant of the pronoun doubles: dimmi!, dammi!, fammi!, vacci!.
